All New Yorkers, from hospitals to small businesses, count on Con Edison to deliver reliable energy. We’re making strategic investments to maintain and strengthen our grid against increasingly severe weather ensuring reliable service when our customers need it most. Over the last decade, our investments have prevented more than 1.2 million customer outages, and we continue to build major infrastructure projects like the Idlewild substation in Queens to support New York’s energy future. Our Climate Change Vulnerability Study with Columbia University guides these targeted infrastructure upgrades, ensuring our systems remain resilient against extreme weather.
Staying Accessible to All New Yorkers
Rising costs are hitting New Yorkers hard. That’s why Con Edison is focused on keeping energy affordable while still delivering reliable power. Our comprehensive approach includes immediate relief, long-term planning, and improved access to assistance. In 2024, more than 466,000 customers enrolled in our Energy Affordability Program received over $332 million in bill discounts, while we simultaneously expanded these programs and improved our tools to help more people get the support they need. Beyond direct assistance, we’re pushing for policy changes that reduce hidden costs and make energy more affordable in the long term. We also recognize that strategic grid investments today prevent costly outages tomorrow – a key part of our commitment to both reliability and affordability for all New Yorkers.
